Getting to El Prado

After a quick but leisurely breakfast of “Japanini” (toasted ham and cheese on flaky Japanese roll) from the Miyako Hotel lobby cafe then headed back to Union Station by metro. We had time to fill so decided to have a quick walk through China Town before heading on to the Union Station lounge. Several of the largest US Amtrak stations have Lounges for their passengers that have room tickets. They are quiet, have comfy seating, free snacks, coffee and bottled juices. The Amtrak Lounge in Chicago has showers! When its time for your train you get a Red Cap shuttle right to the trains door. Oh the life. Back we go to our little sleeper and leave LA right as the sun is going down.

I was awakened by loud clanging and flashing red lights. We were at the Barstow stop to pick up more passengers and this was outside my sleeper window. I thought we were on fire until I rolled over and laughed at the sight.

Once we got to Albuquerque we called a cab, the station is so small that there was not a line waiting as we expected. And off to the airport car rental to pick up our Rav4 and hit the road, the High Road to Taos that is. Driving through Taos, through El Prado, turn on Blueberry Hill road and then to #18 Wisdom Way to our little vacation Casa. Home sweat home.

Put in two loads of laundry, took two hot showers and fell into a wonderful bed.
