This time on a much faster train!

After 35 years away, we are finally making our grand return to Japan. We may be moving at a gentler pace these days, but the Shinkansen certainly is not—it can whisk along at around 200 miles per hour.
Our adventure begins with a flight into Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, followed by a well-earned night at the Royal Hotel. The next morning, we will pick up an ekiben—a traditional train station bento, because even breakfast deserves a little ceremony—then take the monorail to Tokyo Station. From there, we will board the Hayabusa Shinkansen, the famous “bullet train,” bound for Morioka, our base camp for the next 12 days. After that, we get three blissful days of pampering at the Sheon Hotel and Onsen before reluctantly returning to reality.
