Japan 10-13-2026, The Sakakiyama Inari Shrine

The Sakakiyama Shinto Shrine is about 2 1/2 miles up into the woods in the northern part of the city. It is made up of 14 distinct shrines some large and some the size of a large doll house. Each with a distinct history and purpose.

The messenger to the deity’s at this Shinto shrine (Jinja) is the Kitsune, or Fox.

After you have paid respect, prayed at the shrines, following the multi-step traditions, you can donate to the Shrine. They will stamp a page in a special book, a Goshuin, in red and write a blessing specifically for you in black sumi ink. It’s like a passport that you can collect page after page of blessings from different shrines and temples. Some of us could use the extra help..
